But setting priorities is the name of the game, because you will never have the time to do all. Your itinerary has to be refined to meet the best of your expectations. Alternative logs need to be considered in case the wind conditions change. This is certainly true for the Mediterranean coasts. Whether it is Greece, Turkey or Croatia, they all have their various trade winds, depending on the season and you need to know about it.

For a group of several boats on the same itinerary, a separate boat will guide you to the destinations. There are large discounts available, depending on size and number of boats. We will handle this for you.

Preparation Tips for Bareboat Charters

• Acquaint yourself with the territory. Plan daily mileage and anchorages or marinas.

• Are my navigation skills sufficient for that particular territory?

• Many European companies require 2 licensed skippers on larger boats. If you do not have a license, what are your liabilities?

• Can I handle the various mooring styles?

• Do I know the weather patterns for that particular season?

• What about anchorages?

• Do I know the rule of the road for International waters?

• At what bay do I find shelter from the trade winds?

• Is the anchorage save for an overnight?

• Load your waypoints in the GPS before the trip.

• What about VHF communications in countries where English is not well spoken? Where and on what frequencies do I get the weather?

• In International waters, do I have all the required documentation on board and do I know the places where Immigration and Customs facilities are available?

• Where do I get the cruising permits?

• What is the local currency used where credit cards are not accepted?

• Where can I do provisioning and where do I get potable water?

• Is my crew list up to date with all the information needed? Make several copies.

• Does the charter include dinghy, towels, fishing gear, bimini?

• What kind of insurance is available and how much is the deductible?

• What about end cleaning?

• Do the ladies know the local dress codes?

• Did you inform the crew about the possibility of seasickness and prevention?

• What are the medical facilities in the area and what about prescriptions?
